Founder

Emanuele Scansani

Emanuele Scansani is the founder of Chunqiu Risk, an independent intelligence platform specialising in China-related political, geopolitical, security and strategic risk.

He brings over fifteen years of experience in risk intelligence, geopolitical analysis and the research, assessment and monitoring of political and security developments affecting international organisations. His career has spanned senior analytical and leadership positions, intelligence operations and the development of structured intelligence products, with a particular emphasis on China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

His expertise in China combines direct professional experience in mainland China and Hong Kong with extensive analytical work on the country's political system, regulatory environment, international relations and evolving geopolitical and security landscape. His work has examined the intersection of domestic political developments, regional security dynamics, great-power competition and the exposure of international organisations to China-related risks.

Emanuele holds a master's degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He is also a certified ISO 31000 Lead Risk Manager and a former member of the GBTA Europe Risk Committee. He contributed to the review and quality testing of ISO 31030 prior to its publication, bringing practitioner expertise to the development of international risk management guidance.

His approach to intelligence is grounded in rigorous source evaluation, structured analytical methodologies and the distinction between established facts, interpretation and uncertainty. It places particular emphasis on identifying consequential developments, understanding their organisational implications and preserving analytical continuity as events unfold.

Chunqiu Risk represents the application of this experience to a dedicated China intelligence platform: combining continuous monitoring, systematic risk assessment and cumulative intelligence to provide a structured understanding of an increasingly complex geopolitical and operating environment.
